David Snell of Frisco Fairways announced Monday May 5, 2008 that the slander/defamation lawsuit against him and two other homeowners was dismissed with prejudice. David had insurance in place through his Homeowner's policy and he wants every homeowner to know about it.
The endorsement is called an HO201 and the endorsement by itself costs around $20-$40 annually! He had some other coverage "wrapped around it" so his was about $80 a year!
It is a personal injury endorsement that one can very easily add on to an existing Homeowner's insurance policy. It more or less protects the homeowner from personal injury charges that may come from some accident that happens at your home.
Well, slander/defamation fall under this category! David had $500,000 in legal protection to pay for his defense when he was recently sued. Once homeowners find out about this very inexpensive insurance, they too, can be protected in the unlikely event they are sued for exercising their right of free speech. It does not pay punitive damages if found guilty. David urges every homeowner to consult with his insurance agent for this protection.
